The design team came through on this public competition from Preservation Alliance and Docomomo PHL focused on The Roundhouse. Katie Haines, Chris Soffientini, Talcia Brown, Sarah Smith, and Paul McGehee were passionate about the submission. Titled “Reclaiming the Roundhouse”, their design focused on Approachability, Remembrance, Communal Healing, and Trauma Informed Design. The team was short-listed from 30 submissions to six who were asked to present at the Symposium on Wednesday, October 29 at WHYY. Read more about it HERE!
Overwhelmingly, all the teams are for saving the building and adapting the building for the community and adding additional residential spaces. While only the Mayor’s Office knows what is next for this public property, the symposium designs give a lot for thought.
