Cultural Symbol
The Connections of Mechanical Fasteners is the cultural symbol for what the practice of architecture means to Ian Smith as well be a guiding reminder of how the firm intends to practice. If we can begin to understand that bridges are both destinations and paths we may be able to understand that much of everything we touch is a bridge, including ourselves. The purpose of this book is to connect and exchange information in order to develop a better understanding of oneself and the world we live in. The book was meant to be a teaching apparatus and to make connections to the world. The world which we live in is built upon how we relate to one another.
