PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Center for Anti-Racism at Temple University

Born out of the George Floyd protests, Temple University issued an RFP to create the Center for Anti-Racism Research under the auspices of the Department of Africology and African American Studies. Selected in partnership with Pride Enterprises, this interior alteration and exterior addition to (2) existing hall buildings at Temple University for the Department of Africology’s proposed Center for Anti-racism Research.

The team continued the work through 2021 and is winding down the construction and final touches to open in the Fall in time for the new school year. The work included the renovation of existing offices and a new lounge within Gladfelter Hall’s Africology Department, and enlargement of the existing building footprint of Anderson Hall for the proposed Africology Resource Center along with a new Engineering Robotics Lab and Liberal Arts classroom space.
